A group of ten institutions from seven different countries has joined forces to set up a consortium of experts to cooperatively conduct the project "MARINE FUNGI". The project is coordinated by the Kiel Center for marine natural products at Helmholtz-Centre for Ocean Research GEOMAR Kiel, Germany. The outcome of the project will be selected lead structures of anti-cancer therapeutics and robust, sustainable processes for the production of the bioactive compounds.
All partners joined within to determine the best strategy for protection and use of the results. This includes scientific and business networking, presentation of data at project meetings and national/international conferences, as well as engagement of pharmaceutical partners for clinical trials.
